My Top 5 Tips to get Bikini Ready in 5 Days

 

Chances are that if you are reading this… you are looking for some healthy tips to get bikini ready. Great! I’m here to help and share just some of the tricks I have up my sleeve.  Here are just some of my Top Tips below that I share with only my celebrity clients helping them get ready for events and photo shoots.

If you think that starving yourself and working out 4 hours a day is the way to go – YOU ARE SO SADLY MISTAKEN. Also do not believe half of what you read in the magazines. Don’t even get me started with that.

So let’s begin. You say: “HELP! I need to be bikini ready in 5 days and look A.T.A.P.”- (as toned as possible!). Sound familiar?  Ahhh, Don’t you just love this pressure? Ugh, NOT.

How to get a “beach body” you ask? Simple. —> Go to the beach and have a body. 

But NOT quite the case.

For starters, don’t panic. Realize you have the body you have and that there is no reason to become the crazy person who hits the gym for 6 hours a day attempting to look like say Heidi Klum or like (“America’s First Super Model” Cheryl Tiegsa client of mine) in 5 days! This is where so many women fall victim and in return – end up feeling and looking – worn out.

In a dream world, you would stay in a fit, bikini-ready body, all year-round and live a healthy lifestyle. For example, out of the blue, I got a phone call to do a bikini shoot LESS than 24 hrs before the shoot in Malibu the next day (the picture above actually).  Since I am a trainer, a model, and healthy foods chef – I not only live, inspire, and teach a healthy lifestyle but it is my job.   

But let’s get real. Most people are not bikini ready in the drop of hat. On top of it, they do not live in SUNNY Southern California like I do too (warm weather all year!). So I hear you. You can relax because I am here to help YOU with my top expert tips and advice.

I know everyone wants instant advice and tips but those “quick-fixes” are not at all how your body will ever change for the long run or permanently. You can however work hard at it and my tips below are a great start no matter where you are.

If you are confident with yourself, packed with self-love, and respect for yourself – it will show and that is the secret. Do not forget to have fun!

So the good news is… YOU can make a difference in 5 days.  You can’t change everything you might not be happy with and there is no point in stressing yourself out, as this will also backfire on you. Instead, come from a place of confidence and LOVE THE SKIN YOU ARE IN. This will help, I promise along with my tips.

For the Next 5 Days:

1. EXERCISE:

  • Yes, workout. But do not- I repeat do not think that over-training is smart despite what you heard (from say a celebrity magazine). No need to ever workout out longer than 2 hours ever (unless you are a athlete in training). I would do a form of cardio that really gets you sweating, like stair climbing, running, high-intensity sprints, or a spin class.
  • Hit the weights! You can create a “muscle pump” and actually look more toned.  Have you ever noticed that after a good weight session you might feel more toned but you look it  too?  The day before your shoot is the most ideal day to achieve this temporary result. I train many of my clients right before an event to get those arms, calves, and glutes smoking hot.

BONUS TIP: It is also important to not get too focused on weighing yourself, read my post Don’t Be A Slave To The Scale to understand how “sneaky” the scale can be.  I actually tell my clients to usually ditch the scale. I know it can be helpful for some but you are really getting wrong and inaccurate information from most scales and in return – beat yourself up. For what? You can’t gain 5 pounds in a day ladies! The scale is WRONG. Remember not to compare yourself with others, and focus only on you. Now, go show ‘em your stuff.

2. FOR DIET:

  • Watch your sodium. Again, you would be shocked as to how much certain foods contain sodium in your daily allowance (diet pudding, for example, is loaded). Sodium will get your body to hold onto water–not good for trying to look A.T.A.P.- (as toned as possible!)
  • DRINK a Ton of Water! <— (great post on how much water YOU need)
  • Cut out Carbs at night.
  • Again, do not cut calories too low (don’t go below 1,200).
  • Eat Breakfast <— ( my tips) and do not skip meals. Now is not the time to mess with your energy or your metabolism.
  • You can cut out some foods that DO bloat you (even though they are so good for you.) For example: broccoli, brussels sprouts, and oatmeal. Replace these with more water based foods such as: fruits and veggies like cucumbers, watermelon, celery, and red bell peppers.
  • Incorporate a healthy green drink into your meals packed with nutrients, vitamins, and is just so good for you. Will also give you a “glow!”
  • I would avoid – if possible “gluten” as well.
  • Do your best to stay mindful and maybe log your meals to hold yourself accountable. If you had 3 Godiva truffles – well than you had 3 Godiva truffles.

3.  REST, REST, REST:

I am talking sleep. Get enough sleep so you feel like a bikini bad ass! They call is “beauty sleep” for a reason. Aim for at least 8 hours. This will help your hormones so you can have more control over your food cravings.  There is so much evidence that sleep deprivation and weight gain go hand in hand. So make sure you get at least 7-8 hours if not more a night. Plus you just want to be as relaxed as possible in such an uncomfortable situation, am I right!?

4.  TAN:  

I only recommend a spray tan – not tanning beds. If you are getting sun outside just be very careful and put on that sunscreen. If you live in Los Angeles there are great places and many use only organic ingredients. This will highlight your awesome curves, muscle tone, and will give you that extra confidence boost.  This is a big tip many of my clients do before any big event.

5:  MY FINAL ADVICE IS:

—> To try to live a healthy lifestyle always<—-, so you are already in shape and healthy, and very close to your bikini countdown any time of the year!  This will knock out any anxiety and make you feel your ultimate best.

So do not sweat it and remember…TRY to shine from within and that is how the world will see your true beauty!

    Tans definitely help!! Too bad sunless tanners all kind of suck and make me look like I have skin diseases of all types, LOL!!! As for diet – do not drink sparkling h20 and take probiotics!! YES YES – those need to happen in my life! 😉

    Great tips! I have 10 days before I fly to Majorca so looking to loose the bloat and try and tone up as much as poss! Will definitely be giving these a try along with digging out my skipping rope haha.
