Fruit Phobia: Are You Scared Of Fruit?

FRUIT PHOBIA? Are you scared of eating fruit or have you ever been? Do you feel like it should be feared because you’ll gain weight? In my practice helping clients, I find this to still be very common. There’s the low carb Paleo going on, diets saying all sorts of nonsense, then people hear “carb” or “sugar” and may have immediate fear, etc. It can go on and on. I want you to know, that it is okay if you have or still do fear eating fruit. I want to help you to understand more!

I can tell you that there’s only a very small percentage of people that should be careful with fruit in their diets because of health concerns like those with metabolic disorders, gut imbalances, or fructose intolerance. Other than that, Fruit is so wonderful for you and a great choice to have in your day! It’s all about balance. This does not mean loads and loads or smoothies from Jambi Juice. It means enjoying a fresh, ripe and in season yummy piece of fruit with no guilt!

Just remember this: it’s about the dose and the source of fructose. Fruit is not making you fat.

Here are 10 simple reminders to why fruit is not to be feared:

  • Fruit eaters tend to weigh less. 
  • Fruit has awesome antioxidants.
  • Fruit is packed with water and fiber. 
  • Fruits have more polyphenols than veggies.
  • Fruit has beauty benefits. Hello Glow! 
  • The fibers and prebiotic action of fruits help support your micro-biome.
  • Fruits have been shown to prevent not cause disease.
  • Fruit is a nutrient dense and portable carbohydrate source. If you’re active, consuming fruit is a great way to fuel exercise and energize your cells.
  • Fruit helps with sweet cravings and is a great superfood for women especially.
  • Fruit provides endurance-boosting energy.

I hope this helps you and you really should not be terrified of gaining weight from enjoying some fruit. This time of year, the most outrageous and delicious fruits are in season to enjoy too. So choose organic and don’t feel guilty about eating fruit!
